Sophie has travelled extensively, visiting - to date - 96 of the world's countries; traveling some of the remotest regions of Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. Sophie lived for extended periods in Australia, Canada and America (where she still partially resides). Sophie has contributed to a variety of British, American and Australian magazines and travel guides. She studied Irish History and Sports Science at New York University and the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia. Sophie has studied various academic and craft-based courses at eminent educational facilities worldwide; from Meditation Philosophy in Nepal, to Thai Massage and Buddhist Philosophy in Thailand to Ceramic Art in Zimbabwe and Costume Design in New York City. About The Author? Sophie is about to embark on a world-wide marketing tour for Kissed By The Angels, although it is not the first time she has ventured the globe. Sophie has visited - to date - 96 of the world's countries, accumulating a wealth of knowledge and experience which she translates onto the pages of Kissed By The Angels with stunning simplicity. On her adventures Sophie has proved she most definitely has an angel at her side, which has enabled her to dodge fatality in dangerous situations, such as, being hijacked by Somali rebels on a bus in Kenya, being held-up by Mexican Bandidos in Mexico. Surviving a suicide bomber in a market in Jerusalem, a Chechen bomb in Moscow. She dodged Al-Quaida terrorist stabbing tourists on a bus in Luxor, Egypt. Missed a sinking ship in Finland. She was almost shot by an El-Salvadorian madman in San Salvador and stabbed by a Honduran street gang in Tegucigalpa. She almost went over Victoria Falls in a broken-down boat on the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe and was picked up and escaped the Backpacker killer in Australia and so many more too numerous and shocking to list! Excitement has been provoked by means other than fear. Exhilaration was induced upon climbing 19950ft of Mount Everest and to the summit of Kilimanjaro in Kenya, by walking the Great Wall of China and while trekking through the Amazon Rain Forest. While going on safari from Cape Town to Cairo, to surfing in Hawaii and sky-diving in New Zealand. Climbing volcanoes in Indonesia, to witnessing some of the world's finest art in cities such as - Paris, Rome and St Petersburg. It is said that Kissed By The Angels is somewhat autobiographical, in that Sophie Martin-Canning had a facial Port-wine stain birthmark, like that of the novel's protagonist. By translating her truthful experiences on to the pages of this book she will empower people to help themselves and build self-esteem and confidence. Great writers articulate truths that we all recognise immediately - Sophie Martin-Canning has this skill, she's a true and sincere entertainer.
