Kissed By The Angels
is an uplifting story that makes you more aware of how much we take
for granted and how much we really have. It's a true classic that transforms
your perspective on life. It proved to me that whatever bad situation
you feel you are in there's always a way out, there's always someone
who's been through it before, that you're not the only person in the
world that bad things are happening to. It proved to me that I'm not
alone in my feelings of inadequacy. I interpreted it as being promoted
as a light-hearted novel, and if you wish to take it that way fine,
it's a wonderful read, but if you read into it and digest each eloquent
and evocative sentence expressed, you will find amazing life guidance,
of how to live a positive, good-living life. But Sophie Martin-Canning
doesn't do this in a pretentious, 'I know more than you' philosophical
way, but done in an 'I'm a normal person and I want to teach you'
way. Find those deep underlying messages and your life will be better
for it. This book should be in every personal library!!

Kissed By The Angels is a fantastic, emotional journey through a young
girls life who is no stranger to the injustices of mankind's bigotry.
The language which is used is almost poetical and Sophie Martin-Canning
describes things in such detail that you feel like you're there, in
the story with the characters. It's a tale of hope, ambition, sadness
and dreams, and the desire that if you want something bad enough you
just might get it. This book made me cry on several occasions and laugh
out loud on many others. It is just packed with raw emotion about real
life, real people and real occurrences. The characters are genuine and
you really fall in love with ones like Orlagh, Emmet, Nanna Bridie and
Rory. By the end of the book you are captured by the magic of Kissed
By The Angels. I would recommend this book to any one and everyone.

Kissed By The Angels made me realise we have the power to be who we
really want to be. I'm convinced that Kissed By The Angels is not a
work of fiction, but guidelines to self-discovery in the guise of a
novel, so it would reach a broader spectrum of humanity. Since reading
this book, I, like Orlagh Emmet, have begun to learn how to understand
the 'coincidences' in my life. For some it will remain a work of fiction
with a happy feeling, but to those who really take the teachings of
Kissed By The Angels on board, it becomes a startling reality that will
give you an inner-strength and will change your whole life.

Dear Sophie,
I feel a strong need to write this note to inform you of how your book
has changed my life. I feel I need to thank you from the bottom of my
heart. Since 1990 I have been battling bulimia. I must say battled,
because it has been a fight. Every day I have fought with my mind to
try to stop this horrible disorder, which, if I may quote you 'has grasped
me so tightly in its crushing grip and insidiously demolished my once
vibrant life and energy.' Every day for 12 years eating has ruled my
life, or being sick has anyway. No one or nothing has ever given me
a reason to stop, well I've had reasons to stop, to stop feeling so
horrible, but I thought I felt so horrible because I needed to lose
weight, not because me making myself sick was what was making me feel
even worse. But since reading Kissed By The Angels I now know that I
have a job in life. I realise I have been put on this earth for a reason.
I now know I have my own angel waiting to give me a job, I just have
to find out where it's hiding. In fact, I think maybe you are my angel.
Your book was bought for me as a birthday gift by a friend, it is the
best present I have ever had. Your words leapt out from the pages and
were absorbed in my mind and for the first time in 12 years I feel I
can beat bulimia. I feel I can begin to live a normal life. You have
given me strength. Knowing that someone else, whether it was you or
a friend, has felt exactly as I do, or now, I have done has made me
feel sane. I didn't think anybody knew how I felt. I thought it was
only me who could possibly feel this way. Now I know it's not. Now like
Orlagh Emmet, I am going to await my angelic guidance. I am also eagerly
going to await the sequel to Kissed By The Angels. Please hurry. Sophie,
thank you, thank you, thank you. You have made my life better. I'm going
to be strong. I'm going to get over this. I know I'm not as strong as
Orlagh Emmet, but I'm going to try my best to be. Life is way too good
to waste it by sticking your fingers down your throat, your book has
made me realise that. I have to be wise. Thank you from the bottom of
my heart,
April. London, England.
I was bullied at school - I wish I'd read Kissed By The Angels then.
Maybe then I would have been inspired to be as brave as Orlagh Emmet
was. I think this book would help any one of any age and gender who
is experiencing any type of prejudice, to be strong and to stand up
for themselves. This book shows how cruel people can be, it also shows
how kind and compassionate humankind can be too. There's sadness, joy
and passion in equal amounts. I read Kissed By The Angels, as did my
husband, my seventeen-year-old daughter and twenty-two-year-old son.
It appealed to us all, but in very different ways. Each of us took something
different away with us when we finished, but in each case it had a positive
affect. Reading Kissed By The Angels is a great investment of time and
I recommend this book to everyone.

Kissed By The Angels
is an original piece of work. It's so original because of the voice
of the protagonist and her attitude towards events. It's an old fashioned
love story in a contemporary setting with the added delight of enchanting
fantasy. It's a wonderful collection of humorous stories with moral
advice weaved through them. It's a story which also exhibits strong
family values, tight friendship bonds and camaraderie we should all
aspire to achieve. It encapsulates everything a good book should. Happiness
is a by-product of positivity and after reading this positive piece
of work you will experience happiness.

I was truly moved by Kissed By The Angels. I cried and then laughed
for the joy and humour in it. I was transfixed on this work, I was empowered,
I will even go as far as to say this book changed me as a person. Changed
my outlook on life, made me more optimistic - encouraged me to chase
my dreams. Thank you Sophie Martin-Canning for waking up my sleeping
spirituality, for once again making me believe that there's always someone
watching over and protecting me, that I'm not alone.

Wow, Kissed By The Angels, what a beautiful piece of work. Upon reading
this work you will soon realise Sophie Martin-Canning has a gift. This
book is a gift to the world; it will inspire people to change their
lives.
It's sad to say but many people don't have a clear grasp of their spirituality.
Sophie Martin-Canning certainly does and translates it onto the pages
with ease, so by her writing I think there will be tens of thousands
who are so deeply touched as to reaffirm a damaged life but also millions
more who are spiritually uplifted....even if a person was an atheist
they would have to fall in love with the family life, with the inspiration,
it's a winner on all levels. Kissed By The Angels gave me a warm feeling
in the pit of my stomach and a nostalgic happiness in my heart.

I loved this book for many reasons, but I especially loved it because
it told the story of a normal working-class family, who are happy and
stable, exhibiting that strong family values are of up most importance,
that there is nothing more beautiful than a strong family bond, and
it showed the makings of what will become another strong family unit.
It proves that goodness breeds goodness and happiness breeds happiness.
I loved the way Sophie Martin-Canning wrote about everyday occurrences
with such an amazing style that you appreciate the little things that
surround you each day, which you would usually take for granted. There
are sad occurrences in the story, but again it shows that strength of
the human spirit and proves that ultimate happiness and inner peace
can prevail. I've read it over and over again, and with each time I
read it I discover something new and amazing.

Dear Sophie,
I have finally and sadly(!) finished Kissed by the Angels and I had
to write and tell you how much I enjoyed the experience! If I tell you
that as an English and French graduate I overdosed on literature and
reading for 6 years or so to the point where I am now a "reluctant" reader. It has to be of special interest to capture and maintain my
attention and this certainly did, it was magnificent in everyway. Thank
you! Looking forward to the sequel and equally to meeting you in person
if your schedule ever allows a visit to our school. All the best,

Other than being a fantastically inspirational book, I learnt so much
from reading it, about a wide range of subjects like; Saint Patrick,
the Ayatollah Khomeini, Tutankhamen, the troubles in Ireland - which
until reading this book I have never really been interested in, but
Kissed By The Angels gave me important facts about notorious happens
(which I think we should all know) in the history of modern-day Ireland
that it has given me an appetite to learn more and be more open minded.
And finally I learnt about boxing. I never dreamed I would be interested
in the outcome of a boxing match, or indeed of how the punches in that
match were delivered, of all the different styles of boxing - I thought
it was just a case of the most brutal wins. Sophie Martin-Canning makes
you care about the characters involved and describes the boxing movements
so poetically that you could be reading about ballet - it wasn't savage
or brutal at all. It taught me that there's a specific art to everything.
I can recommend this book so much, for so many reasons.

Have you ever read a book with such an intense story line that you just
couldn't (or should I say, wouldn't) put it down? Well, if not, this
is the book that will take you away. I have never been so drawn to a
book in my entire life as I was to "Kissed By The Angels".
I bought the book because the title sounded sweet, I was never much
of a reader, but ever since I read this book it has opened my eyes and
now I enjoy reading. Thanks to Sophie Martin-Canning for the gift of
her imagination she has taught me how to laugh, cry, and believe, all through
this book. Words cannot describe this book, nor the feeling I had while
reading it. I cried once I finished it, not just because it was beautiful,
but because I didn't want the feeling I had to ever leave. This book
was a non-stop heart/eye grabber from the beginning, and never did I
once find a dull moment throughout this novel. I promise you all that
this book will not only take your breath away, but it will give you
something to hold onto in your heart. Thanks Sophie for the book that
opened not only my eyes for reading, but my heart for loving.

This book is beautiful,
the characters, the scenery, everything. It's more than just a story;
this book is an adventure into the life-defining moments and events
that occur in all our childhoods. With breathtaking scenery and characters,
Sophie Martin-Canning will have you laughing, crying and cheering Orlagh
on, as well as feeling empowered to choose your own destiny, regardless
of past experiences or challenging circumstances.

I have recently
finished reading Kissed By The Angels and I honestly think it's magnificent.
From reading the novel I have found inspiration. I have also found comfort.
As a teenager I suffered with extreme acne. The book has made me realise
that the nasty comments made about my skin condition didn't matter.
It made me realise that what was said to me and about me assisted in
making me the strong person that I have grown to be today. Your book
was tremendous, Sophie. Thank you.
Jennifer Wright. Birmingham, England.
Dearest Sophie,
I remember seeing my father cry while watching a movie and I asked him
why he was crying and he turned to me and said "I am touched by
the extraordinary acts of extraordinary people. Their humanity brings
tears to my eyes because they touch hearts. Some people are special
darling. They are born to change the world for the good and touch hearts." I believe you are one of these people, Sophie. I believe people are
meant to witness the goodness of your being through the fruits you bear
in the form of your novel Kissed By The Angels. I think everyone should
read your book and experience its great joy, compassion, humour and
kindness, but I know that it is difficult for some people to pick up
a book. I am sure Kissed By The Angels will reach a different audience
because one day soon your book will be on the big silver screen in the
United States...it has to be...there are too may people out there who
have their birthmarks, hidden or otherwise and need to know that they
too are extraordinary and capable of extraordinary acts...acts of kindness
for example. May your days be filled with great joy. The same joy you
gave to me through your book.
